In order to help solve the challenge of limited veterinary services due to shortage of Assistant Veterinary Officers (AVOs), SPRODETA in conjunction with EPA staff (AEDC & AVOs) built capacity of 18 community members (11 men & 7 women) in drug administration at Sasasa and Kankhoka in Rumphi district and Kasambankholi, Chamaji and Kayolo in Mzimba South.

Community drug administrators were trained on goat pests and diseases, drug revolving fund and how they can administer drugs to goats. This will go a long way in improving goat productivity because the rights holders will no longer be digging in their pockets to foot the transport costs of the AVOs each time the goats need the attention of AVOs.
