SPRODETA with the joint funding from NCA-DCA implemented the Enhancing the Goat value chain for increased income and resilience among the vulnerable Women and Youths in Dowa District. The project is contributing towards increased resilience and poverty reduction among women and youth farmers in Dowa District.
For example, a form three 19-year-old female youth Estele Tsonyo received 4 goats; One Boer buck and three does. She says the money she will make from selling the goats will assist her in paying school fees and the goat droppings are being used in her backyard vegetable and beans’ garden hence reducing the demand for commercial fertilizer.
