ENHANCING THE LIVELIHOOD OF YOUNG SINGLE MOTHERS THROUGH ECONOMIC EPOWERNMENT AND NUTRITION EDUCCATION AMIDST COVID 19 PANDEMIC AND HIV/AIDS

SPRODETA staff conducted a training on nutrition in TA Jalavikuwa where the beneficiaries were taught on what nutrition is and the main six groups of foods thus Carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vegetables, fruits and vitamins. The advantages of having a well-balanced diet and the disadvantages of having one group of foods and the examples of the six group foods were also taught. Later on cooking demonstration were conducted and every one participated as they were put in groups and were instructed on how to prepare the food. The following dishes were made; African cake, Cake, Mixed dish, porridge, Doughnuts, Meat, Rice and Nsima. Beneficiaries were encouraged to continue doing the same in their homes with the locally available resources so that the nutrition improves of that of their children and themselves.

Mgaiwa, Eggs, Milk, Bananas, G/nuts powder, Sugar and salt and baking powder

Sugar, Margarine, Eggs, Wheat flour, Milk and Baking powder
3. MIXED DISH
Meat, plantains, Tomato, onions, vegetables, salt and cooking oil.
4. PORRIDGE
Mgaiwa, Milk, Eggs, G/nuts powder, fish powder, and salt
5. DOUGHNUTS
Sweet potatoes, margarine, eggs, salt, wheat flour, milk and baking powder.
6. MEAT
Beef, cooking oil,, Tomato and onions.
